Bunnies by the Bay began with two sisters in a small Washington fishing town and their grandmother’s stories about bunnies in the garden. Forty years later, those stories still shape every piece in the line.

The world behind the brand has a name: Cricket Island. It is the imagined home of every collection — Good Friends Farm, Camp Cricket, the Buddy Blankets, the Halloween and Holiday capsules — each character with a place in the larger world.

Every plush is finished by hand. Embroidered eyes. Blushed cheeks. Soft noses. Packaged for gift-giving from day one, and made to be loved hard and passed down.

The origin story

## Everything can be rescued and mended.

Bunnies by the Bay began after real loss in a Washington fishing family. In 1983, the crab boats Altair and Americus were lost in the Bering Sea. Fourteen men died, including the founders' father, uncle, cousin, and childhood friends. The family story also carries the later loss of their baby brother, Tony Beirnes.

The company is dedicated to their grandmother Elsa Atterberry, known as Gram. She brought the girls into her sewing circle and told stories about bunnies in her garden. Those stories became comfort. The sewing became characters. The family island became Cricket Island, the world behind the brand.

That is why the line has more selling power than a generic plush shelf. Each character has a place in the world. Each book gives the store language. Each lovey or buddy blanket becomes part of a family's routine.
