## The Caroline B Cook story

Caroline B Cook writes picture books her mother paints.

Caroline moved to Nashville in 1992 to attend Vanderbilt, married West, raised four children, built a life teaching Bible study to young mothers through a group she founded called Cute Dumb Sheep, and wrote a memoir called Hungry about her recovery from an eating disorder. The picture books grew from there, from years of reading bedtime stories to her own kids and noticing what landed, what stuck, and what got quietly handed back to be read again.

The first three books came in a single weekend. On a quiet trip, Bible in her lap, Caroline realized she hadn’t been still in years, and wrote Joy, Kind, and Still before she flew home. She set them aside for a while, then brought them back in hardcover, certain they were meant to last. “I want to be an old lady still writing children’s books,” she says.

Her mother, Trisha T. Bridges, paints every cover by hand. Watercolor. The two of them work on each volume together, Caroline writing the words, Trisha illustrating the world the words describe. The books are small, quiet, and deliberately open-ended: meant to be read aloud and talked about, not rushed through.

The line is rooted in faith without being labeled by it. Caroline is passionate about spreading truth and love, and the books carry that, but they’re designed to work on a church gift-shop shelf and just as well on a neighborhood bookstore’s children’s section.
