Why This Exists

I have always loved local retail. I was a retailer myself. And one thing I’ve learned, working as a wholesale rep for more than a dozen independent brands across Tennessee, Kentucky, and the country: local retail helps define a community’s identity.

A gas station, a big-box chain, a fast-food restaurant — those don’t give a town an identity. Nobody remembers them. Local retail is different. It’s the thing people remember. It’s what makes a community stand out. It’s the work local retailers put in every single day on all those little tiny details that make their store special.

The hard part for them is discovery. Retailers work incredibly hard to show up for their communities, but being found — especially online, in a rapidly changing technology landscape — is a gap that hasn’t quite closed yet. Technology isn’t always a local retailer’s strong suit, and that’s okay. It’s mine. So I’m using it to help close the gap for the brand partners I represent.

This directory is how. Every store listed here reorders consistently from the brands I carry — they stay stocked, they care about their shelves, they show up for their customers. When you find them here, you can trust they’ll have the lines you’re looking for when you walk in.

Many people like to shop local — and many don’t even care if it’s their local. They just want to support local, because they know supporting independent retail matters. Tourist dollars help local dollars. Local dollars keep communities themselves. Now you can do that online, without losing the magic of discovering a store that couldn’t exist anywhere else.
