Your Customer Can Now Pick Their AI. Your Store Wins the Same Way.

This week the helper on the phone became a choice. Monday, Apple said it’s rebuilding Siri — and, for the first time, letting people choose which AI answers, the same way you pick which browser opens when you tap a link. Your customer might be leaning on Apple’s Siri, on Google’s Gemini, or on the company behind ChatGPT. Soon they won’t all be the same voice answering — but every one of them is now in the business of handing out AI store recommendations.

So which one do you need to worry about? None of them. And all of them. Because every one of those assistants is racing to answer the exact same question your customer asks out loud: “Where do I get this, near me, today?” The logo on the assistant changes. The question doesn’t.

Here’s the part worth your time. Google just finished a quiet but big change to how it decides what to show, and the pattern was clear: it stopped handing the win to the biggest name and started rewarding the destination — the result that actually lets a person finish what they came to do. Being listed is no longer the prize. Being the place a shopper can act on is.

Being found is table stakes now. Being the answer someone can act on is the whole game.

What that looks like for your store is small and concrete. Wherever you show up — your listing, your page, your shelf online — make the next step obvious. Your hours. A “yes, we have it.” A pin on the map. A way to hold it at the counter. The AI is built to send a ready-to-buy shopper to the store that’s ready to sell. Give it an easy door to point them through.

If you carry the lines I rep, that’s the page I’m building for you right now — it shows what you stock and points a shopper, or the AI shopping for them, straight to your door. I started with my Atlanta Market appointments this week and I’m working out from there. If we’re meeting at Market, yours is already in motion.
