Give Expensive Items More Space in Your Store

“Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.”

James Baker

The first day of Spring. Tuesday, March 19th. Finally almost here!

So is the next big cycle of sales since the end of the holiday season. You are so ready.

All of the weeks preparing – cleaning out old and bringing in new. Exhausting. And scary at times – bringing in so much inventory when business is relatively slow.

But you know what it takes to perform well. Your shelves have to be stocked, associates trained and eye-catching displays created.

You know business picks up in March, gains momentum and stays strong through May.

I have a quick simple insight for displays this week – and am here to help you with other keys to proper preparation like staying stocked with Tango lines and training your associates. Here to help you do that btw – just ask me!

Good luck with the 5 P’s.
Enjoy the weather – and the business. You’ve earned it!

P.S. “Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance,” is what my friend’s husband constantly reminds their family! Thanks for sharing with me, Robin!

Display Insight

The short version (TL;DR*):
Give expensive items more space in your store.

The long version:
Space – in your store and online signals luxury.

Think about how marked down sale items can usually be found – all shoved together. Now think of a high end handbag line in a department store. They are probably spread out – right?

This is simplifying it a lot – but space is expensive. So if you use it to pack things in – it feels like you are trying to get every last penny out of your rent. (been there haha) But if you spread things out – it feels the opposite – luxurious.

If you have a website, don’t cram too many items on a page. White space online should be treated the same way space in your store is. Think Apple. Give your products space to be seen and digested with eye and mind.

The Takeaway:
Make sure premium priced items have the space they need to sell more easily at higher prices.

Does this help? Thanks for letting me know!

I listen to The Nudge podcast weekly – thanks to Phil for this idea!
